Sea Change

I saw "Kaloori" by Sakthivel who directed Kathal - a romantic tragedy. This one seems like its sequel. Its too early to mark it as such.Produced by Shankar again , amidst high expectations , the movie has lived upto its name till the end except for the climax. The directors benchmark has distorted the sweet castles built up in the film. When people see films , some relate their past experiences with the scenes as they roll out.I even smiled unconscionably recalling the greatest moments I had with my friends.Yup , everything in the movie happens with a theme of friendship in the Background. The new faces Akil, Kalai selvi(in the film ) , the two "guys" and the rest of the crew have lived upto their given characters. The film gurantees a bright future for them. But we have to remind ourselves that our Tamil Cinema Industry is unpredictable as it was always.Lets leave that part to God to bring them up.
The camera works and art settings professional though , lacks certain essential elements of the modern era.Director Sakthivel is almost flawless. But we must prepare ourselves to bear the excruciating pain inflicted by his "romantic tragedy" climax. It suitably suggests that the Director has desperately eyed for some "award".I would give a 8.75/10 for this coveted movie.Joshua Sridhar has once again ignited our minds with this ebullient music. It invigorates our soul and transcends them to a new world to enjoy our youthful days(I mean in imagination :-) ).The momentum generated in the second part will definitely win accolades for the Director and the Film Crew.Tammana Bhatia deserves special mention because of her coquettish smile and charming look.(Love at first sight !).

Movie Freak

I love watching movies for arts sake.Nothing can beat English movies(not all)when it comes to that part.I recently downloaded and watched The Shawshank Redemption,Schlinder's list,Forrest Gump and Little Miss Sunshine.Basically one needs to prepare himself to face any kind of climax unlike the Tamil movies which usually have a "comical supernatural" ends at the climax.
The most striking feature of academy award winning movies does not stop with the whooping budgets but with the amount of hardwork and intelligence spilled into it.Though illegal as described by some narrow minded chauvinists , I use Mu(spell it using your nose - its greek!)TORRENT for my downloads.I am grateful to Dataone for turning me into an nocturnal like my roomie to trigger my downloads at 2:00am - I am not sure whethers it early morning or late midnight :-) .I will check with BSNL customer care and let you know.(first I will have to check whether they have a customer care!!!).I think the deviation ratio is 0.7 now.ok..
The quintessence of movies is to delight the viewers and entertain them. Most of the movies do this part correctly. There are some movies which go a step ahead to do the impossible - to make us think.

Movie reviews :

Forrest Gump :
An adaptation of the book written by Winston Groom by Robert Zemeckis(Director) with Tom Hanks playing the protagonist. This movie revolves around Forrest Gump , a man with IQ of 75.The course of his life with his heart breaking childhood friend Jenny who often leaves him giving the silly reason of chasing her so called "Dreams of becoming POP star". Rate - 8/10 . To know more about it:

I am a movie fanatic, also choosy.A friend of mine(Srivathsan) told me about www.imdb.com - Internet movie database which rates the past and present movies on a 10 scale. After doing a little research , I downloaded Little Miss Sunshine(2006) and The Shawshank Redemption(old) - after a eight day stint from Dec.5th.Finally Mission accomplished. When it comes to downloading from torrents , I would recommend Azureus(Java client).I used Vuze Entertainment powered by Azureus 3.0.4.0.It is an open source software(my ubuntu version crashed unexpectedly due to java runtime problems). The application is handy and well suited for a first time user.Remember to configure your port address to 6881 for faster download rates(Read more about them in threads or google).
